Definition
Ratio: the relation of one part to another or to a whole (a comparison between two numbers equal to one divided by the other).

Example
In this drawing there is one boy and 3 girls, so we could write the ratio in many different ways:
- 1 : 3 - for every one boy there are three girls;
- ¼ are boys and ¾ are girls
- 0.25 are boys (by dividing 1 by 4)
- 25% are boys (0.25 as a percentage)
